Our client is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company. They have asked us to assist them in their search for a Medical Director/Senior Medical Director, Medical Affairs .
Major tasks and responsibilities will include:
Creates and implements a fully aligned strategic Medical Affairs plan, ensuring the successful launch and successful life cycle management.
Establishes or strengthens professional relationships with the medical and scientific community.
Exchanges scientific knowledge, in a compliant manner, with global and regional thought leaders, including 1:1 interactions, congress engagements, and advisory boards.
Leads late-stage clinical development and expanded access programs.
Serves as a subject matter expert, sharing knowledge and providing informed recommendations to other functions as needed.
Collaborates with the Commercial organization to ensure external-facing materials and presentations are scientifically rigorous and clinically meaningful.
Manages, mentors and contributes to building the Medical Affairs team to meet organizational objectives.
Develops key messages in collaboration with internal teams regarding disease state, mechanism of action, target product profile, and molecular diagnostics.
Contributes to the creation and execution of the strategy for medical/scientific communication.
Assesses scientific, medical and educational needs across a variety of external stakeholders.
Establishes the strategic direction for support of Investigator Sponsored Trials (ISTs) and Continuing Medical Education (CME) activities, including chairing relevant review committees.
Directly or indirectly supports interactions with US health payers.
Collaborates internally with clinical and regulatory departments to support the planning, execution, and management of clinical trial activities, including ensuring that appropriate institutions and academic centers have opportunities to participate in the company s clinical programs.
Supports the Field Medical Science teams globally by providing expertise and materials as they engage with the broader healthcare community.
Remains on the forefront of the relevant science and competitive landscape.
We seek candidates with the following qualifications:
Requires an advanced degree (MD, PharmD or PhD) with oncology, allergy/immunology or rare disease experience.
Must have a minimum of 5 years of pharmaceutical industry experience in medical affairs or clinical research.
Launch experience is required, with experience launching the first compound for a company is highly preferred.
Must have the ability to think innovatively about medical affairs strategy and accurately anticipate future consequences and trends.
Requires the demonstrated ability to lead by example and model collaborative behavior by soliciting opinions, coupled with the ability to make key decisions and be effective in getting the team behind the decisions
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
Must have experience conducting formal presentations to senior management and external opinion leaders.
Requires strong analytical skills, especially with regard to understanding and interpreting scientific and clinical research and literature.
